Tickets and Time Slots

Tickets for the Berlin TV Tower are tied to a fixed time slot. When booking online, you select an available time in advance and do not have to queue at the ticket office. The security check and possible short waits at the entrance or before the lift still apply.

The operator currently allows a 15-minute grace period. You should not rely on this, however. Allow enough time to reach the entrance and pass through the security check.

Tickets are generally also available from the ticket office on the day of your visit. Only time slots that are still available at the time of purchase can be booked there. Booking online in advance is advisable, particularly at weekends, on public holidays and at popular visiting times. The operator confirms that tickets are time-slot based and currently include a 15-minute grace period.

Opening Hours

The Berlin TV Tower is regularly open at the following times:

  • March to October
Daily from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm
  • November to February
Daily from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm

The tower may be closed or have different opening hours on individual maintenance, event or closure days. Check the latest published opening hours before travelling.

Time slots at weekends, on public holidays and around sunset are particularly popular. Popular times may also sell out early during major events and in the run-up to Christmas.

The seasonal opening hours are also listed in the operator’s official FAQs.

Entrance and Getting to the Berlin TV Tower

The entrance to the Berlin TV Tower is located opposite Alexanderplatz S-Bahn station. Its central location makes the tower easy to reach by S-Bahn, U-Bahn, regional train, tram and bus.

Alexanderplatz station is served by several S-Bahn services as well as the U2, U5 and U8 underground lines. The entrance is only a few minutes’ walk from the stops.

If you are travelling by car, several paid multi-storey car parks are available nearby. As Alexanderplatz is a busy area and parking can be limited, public transport is usually the easier option.

Security Check Before Going Up the Tower

All visitors undergo a security check before admission. Visitors pass through a metal detector and any bags they are carrying are inspected. This applies regardless of the type of ticket you have booked.

Short waits can therefore still occur with an online, Fast View or restaurant ticket. An online ticket means you do not have to queue at the ticket office, but it does not allow you to bypass the security check.

Bring only the items you need during your visit. This will generally make the security check quicker.

Luggage, Backpacks and Pushchairs

Larger items of luggage such as suitcases, large bags and shopping bags cannot be taken up the tower for safety reasons. Backpacks are currently limited to a maximum size of 45 × 35 × 20 centimetres.

There are no lockers or facilities for storing larger items of luggage at the Berlin TV Tower. If possible, arrive without suitcases or large bags.

Pushchairs cannot be taken up the tower either. They can be stored free of charge at the cloakroom during your visit. These restrictions and the current backpack dimensions are confirmed in the operator’s visitor information.

Visit Duration on the Observation Deck and in the Restaurant

Time inside the Berlin TV Tower is limited.

A visit to the observation deck is allocated 45 minutes. This period begins with your booked visit and covers your time on the observation level.

At the SPHERE Tim Raue restaurant, the maximum stay is one hour and 45 minutes. Your restaurant visit is linked to the booked time slot and table reservation.

With a restaurant ticket, you can visit the observation deck after your meal. The services, food and drinks included depend on the offer you have booked. The official visitor information confirms the 45-minute limit for the observation deck and the maximum stay of one hour and 45 minutes in the restaurant.

Accessibility and Access Restrictions

The Berlin TV Tower is not fully accessible. In an emergency, evacuation takes place via the stairs. For safety reasons, people who would not be able to leave the tower independently using the stairs cannot enter.

This applies in particular to wheelchair users and people who cannot move around without assistance or certain walking aids. However, it is not possible to make a general assessment for every type of mobility impairment.

If you are unsure whether the access restrictions affect you, check the individual requirements directly with the operator before booking a ticket. The operator explains that the restrictions are due to emergency evacuation requirements, as the lifts cannot be used in the event of a fire.

Visiting with Children

Children can visit the Berlin TV Tower. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by someone aged 18 or over.

Pushchairs cannot be taken onto the observation deck or into the restaurant. Free storage is available at the cloakroom.

Children also need a valid ticket in accordance with the conditions of the selected offer. Age limits and child prices may vary between ticket providers. Check these details before completing your booking. The minimum age requirement for unaccompanied visitors is confirmed by the operator.

Photography, Tripods and Drones

Private photography is permitted inside the Berlin TV Tower. Tripods and drones are not allowed.

When taking photographs, make sure you do not obstruct other visitors. Commercial photography or filming may require separate permission. The rules on private photography, tripods and drones are listed in the operator’s FAQs.

Animals and Assistance Dogs

Animals are not permitted inside the Berlin TV Tower for safety reasons.

An exception applies to appropriately trained assistance dogs. Bring the relevant documentation with you. If you are unsure about the requirements, check with the operator before your visit.
